Hire me, Wevo!

Welcome, hiring manager for Wevo!

You are here because I have applied for the currently open Senior Director, Customer Success. I appreciate you taking the time to consider me for this role. I’m confident you’ll be glad you did.

Please allow me to introduce myself…

Why I want to work at Wevo

The Wevo mission and values inspire me and depict a setting in which I could thrive. What company history and financials I can find indicate the company is on an upwards trajectory. I want to spend the next chapter of my career applying all of my experience and skills towards the growth of a modern, valued brand.

Wevo fits that vision perfectly.

I’ve spent hours researching Wevo, the company, and what I discovered increased my enthusiasm for pursuing this role. I read about:

The good

Employee reviews on sites like Glassdoor were encouraging. A perfect 5 star rating and many glowing comments paint an attractive picture. Even those critiquing the employee experience wrote things like “if you have enough autonomy to get a little scrappy and fill in your knowledge gaps, this is still a great opportunity” which describes my ideal work environment perfectly. I am a self starter who thrives when given a lot of responsibility + autonomy.

The bad

Some product reviewers emphasized how important it is for their unique circumstances to be understood (another here) in order for the product to be effective for them. Comments like this hint at possible opportunities for us to better understand our own customers, earlier in the process.

I want to be a part of improving customer success at Wevo and turning it into a competitive advantage.

Why I’m a perfect candidate to direct customer success at Wevo

I’ve managed support teams before

As the Director of Operations at Paid Memberships Pro, I’ve been responsible for managing our support manager, while also leading our product and engineering teams. It’s my job to ensure that all teams are collaborating effectively and that the customer journey is positive from end to end.

I’ve worked as a support agent myself

While my recent years have been preoccupied with company operations, establishing leadership teams, and nurturing other managers, in the past I spent several years working directly with customers using a variety of highly technical software products. I know exactly what it is like to help users navigate complex applications and troubleshoot technical problems.

I satisfy every requirement for the job

Requirements taken directly from the job posting:

Requirements

  • At least 3 years experience managing a customer success team of 5+

    • ⚠️I’ve been managing teams for over five years, some great than five members, but most were in other disciplines such as marketing. Within this past year, customer success has fallen under my purview and our current team consists of six people.
  • Subject matter / industry expertise in UX research/design, website testing/optimization and/or digital marketing

    • Prior to working at several software companies doing digital marketing and operations, I co-ran a digital marketing agency which specialized in website testing and optimization services.
  • You must have existing experience working with our target audience

    • Given the target audiences of UX/CX researchers, marketers, product managers, and agencies, I can confidently say that I’ve worked with all, especially agencies.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills

    • I’ve been a prolific public speaker for the past ten years. I’ve given lectures at dozens of conferences all across the country. It is a craft I have worked hard to polish. To that end I’ve been participating in and helping manage a local Toastmasters club for six years.
  • A self-starter capable of working independently and managing a distributed team

    • ✅ I work best when left to solve hard problems in whichever way I see fit. As a former business owner turned department manager, I’m accustomed to figuring things out on my own and never making my problems into someone else’s problems.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, highly demanding and entrepreneurial environment

    • The more demanding the better! As a former entrepreneur, I always think like I am an owner of the business and welcome big challenges.

What others have to say about working with me

Don’t just take my word for it. Here are former colleagues voluntarily endorsing me:

Steve Bennett, Co-founder, Real Big Marketing (former business partner)

“…You can’t ask for a more well rounded individual.”

Pippin Williamson, Founder and Managing Director, Sandhills Development (former boss)

“Kyle is one of the most dedicated, hard-working, and caring people I have ever had the opportunity to work with”

Tyler Lau, Partnerships Manager, Sandhills Development (former direct report)

“…we were very lucky to have {Kyle} on our team.”

Adam Silver, founder, ConciergeWP (former client and podcast co-host)

Kyle constantly amazed me with his industry insight and original approaches to solving problems. He consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic and has a dedication to success.

Kyle brings intelligence, creativity and leadership to any project he is involved in. On account of his mature approach to his responsibilities, I often thought of Kyle as a colleague I could always rely upon to get the job done. I have always felt he was one of the best in class and it was a pleasure working with him.

Mandy Jones, Content Manager, Sandhills Development and Paid Memberships Pro (former colleague)

Without a doubt, Kyle is one of the most valuable, hardworking, genuine, and thoughtful people I have ever met. After working with him for over two years at two different companies – Sandhills Development and Paid Memberships Pro – I know his character very well, and feel particularly well-suited to vouch for him as a friend and colleague.

Since I’ve known Kyle, he has brought tremendous value to the teams we’ve been a part of together. He not only pioneered a game-changing career progression framework and made massive efforts in planning and organizing events as Director of Operations at Sandhills Development; He also spent countless hours getting to know his colleagues (including myself) on a personal level.

It’s always been obvious that Kyle is totally invested in helping everyone on his team reach their highest levels of performance and personal satisfaction. Plus, his ability to see different perspectives and potential outcomes make him an excellent communicator and strategist across multiple arenas.

However, even with his creative talent, mind for business, and technological savvy, what strikes me most about Kyle is his kind, earnest nature. He is truly the kind of person you want on your team – the full package.

Ross Johnson, General Manager, 3.7 Designs and Snap Orbital (former co-organizer)

He is wise well beyond most people I’ve encountered in my life. He is incredibly loyal and trustworthy…and an excellent leader.
